More Americans are calling themselves pro-life.
A Gallup poll released May 15, 2009 found that 51% of Americans now call themselves pro-life rather than pro-choice on the issue of abortion. This is the first time a majority gave that answer in the 15 years Gallup has been asking that question. Gallup said it's new poll showed an increase in the pro-life position across Christian religious affiliations, including an 8 point gain among Protestants & a 7 point gain among Catholics. The poll also showed a 10 point shift among Republicans, but showed there was no significant change among Democrats.
